Species Overview:
Drosera capensis 'Alba' is a unique, all-green cultivar of the popular Cape Sundew, native to South Africa. Unlike the typical red-tipped form, 'Alba' lacks red pigmentation, giving it a fresh, clean look with bright green leaves and clear dew. It's just as easy to grow and just as hungry—an ideal sundew for beginners and collectors alike.
General Care:
-
Light: Prefers bright indirect light to full sun. Outdoors, partial sun works well; indoors, use a sunny windowsill or strong grow light. Less intense light helps preserve its green coloration.
-
Water: Always keep the soil moist using rainwater, distilled, or reverse osmosis water. Best kept in a tray of shallow water at all times.
-
Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity but adapts easily to indoor conditions.
-
Fertilizer: Not required if it catches insects. For indoor setups, feed with a tiny insect or use a very diluted foliar feed (¼ strength) once a month.
-
Pest Control: Naturally deters small pests. Occasionally inspect for aphids or fungus gnats. If needed, use gentle neem spray or insecticidal soap.
