Learn the foundations of garden design in a relaxed, practical and creative environment. This beginner-friendly workshop is designed to help you understand how gardens are planned, structured and visualized — no previous experience needed. The workshop will be hosted by Dewet Bezuidenhout who has over two decades in various roles of designing, maintaining and installing gardens. 

Throughout the day, you’ll work through a series of guided exercises using tracing paper, sketching techniques and visual references to explore how thoughtful gardens come together.

What the course covers:

1. Garden Concept Design & Space Planning

Learn how to analyse and break down a garden space into functional areas, understand flow and layout, and begin planning with intention.

2. Mood Boards, Style & Garden Planning

Explore different garden styles, create your own visual mood board, and learn how to develop a cohesive design direction and planting atmosphere.

3. Basic Drawing, Sketching & Technical Concepts

An introduction to simple sketching, plan overlays and basic technical drawing concepts used to communicate garden ideas clearly and creatively.
